Regular-season champion Little Caesars won a pair of games Tuesday night to capture the Dunn Parks and Recreation AAA (10-and-under) baseball championship at the Nathan Harris Athletic Complex at Tyler Park.
Tuesday’s games were played at Carlie C’s IGA Field due to wet conditions on Greenwaves Field.
In game one, Harry Johnson drove in Asa Richardson with a base hit in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Little Caesars a 4-3 win over State Farm Insurance (4-8).
Johnson was the winning pitcher, retiring all three batters he faced in relief, including one strikeout.
Kasey Lee had a double and one run scored, Johnson had one hit and one run scored and Richardson and Peyton Hair scored one run apiece for Little Caesars.
Vander Phillips had two hits and one run scored, Alan Hinson had a double, Luke Peterson and Fisher Pope had one hit apiece, Case Lucas had one hit and one run scored and Gehrig Lane scored once for State Farm.
In the championship game, a six-run third inning powered Little Caesars to a 6-4 win over Godwin’s Produce Company (7-4).
Reliever Tres Daughtry was the winning pitcher for Little Caesars (10-2), yielding no earned runs on two hits and no walks, with five strikeouts, over two and one-third innings.
Lee had one hit and one run scored, Daughtry, Johnson, Richardson, Braiden Arendt and Brendon Tootle scored one run apiece for Little Caesars.
Tanner Williams had one hit and two runs scored, Camden Wilson had one hit and one run scored, Wilson Mayo had one hit and Cameron Register scored once for Godwin’s.
The tournament got underway with a pair of games on Monday evening.
Fourth-seeded State Farm Insurance topped fifth-seeded Tarheel Collision (1-10) by a 6-4 score.
Alan Hinson was 2-for-2 for State Farm and Luke Hardison was 1-for-2 for Tarheel Collision.
Second-seeded Godwin Produce Company had a 7-3 win over Black’s Tire (6-5).
Chase Sewell was 1-for-1 for Godwin Produce. Wesley Tew went 1-for-2 for Black’s Tire.
