Senior captain Austin Bowling scored three goals as the Harnett Central varsity girls soccer team opened its season with a 9-0 win over visiting South Garner on Monday night.
Bowling scored the first goal in the seventh minute on a penalty kick after a hand in the box.
Karime Zavalla scored in the 18th minute. Bowling got her second goal in the 28th minute and senior captain Alexis Gordon scored in the 33rd minute as the hosts led 4-0 at the half.
Bowling assisted Zavalla in the 40th minute. Gordon got her second goal in the 42nd minute.
Sinai Beltran scored on a header in the 48th minute on a corner from Gordon for a 7-0 lead.
Ava Hollingsworth tallied the penultimate goal in the 53rd minute and Bowling closed the contest in the 60th minute on Gordon’s assist.
Central is scheduled to visit Overhills on Thursday at 6 p.m.
