Zeke Brock scored 35 points with 13 assists as the Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team never trailed in a 76-58 win over visiting Lawrence Academy on Thursday night in the second round of the NCISAA 1-A playoffs.
The seventh-seeded Eagles (12-12) advance to a third-round matchup at No. 2 Victory Christian (24-8) in Charlotte on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
“The playoff win was a great way to show our appreciation to our fans,” said CFCA coach Dwain Ellis. “Zeke was electrifying and Cole (Godwin) was a monster inside with 13 points and seven rebounds.
“Justin (Chestnut) as usual cleaned the glass with 13 rebounds and seven points. (Caden) Scarborough dropped 11 (points) with five assists.
“Our defensive effort was some of the best I’ve seen all year, coupled with a great offensive output. We are hard to beat when we are focused. I’m proud of my team and coaching staff for the energy brought to get us to the next round.”
Brock’s senior classmates all got in the scoring column. In addition to Godwin, Patrick Raynor had four ponts and Wyatt Medlin had the final point on a free throw.
Kayden Dunkins had two points and Lathan Wilborn added one point.
Lawrence finished the season with a 16-8 record.
