Zeke Brock scored 51 points for the Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team in a 66-55 nonconference win over Falcon Children’s Home at CFCA on Monday night.

The Eagles trailed 18-12 after eight minutes and were down, 28-27, at the half.

“We tried a half-court press to slow down their speedy point guard,” said CFCA coach Dwain Ellis. “We were very successful with it in the long run. We played solid defense and did a great job rebounding. We got a jump start from the young guys on the bench in the third quarter that got us the lead. …

“Zeke didn’t do bad either.”

Big scoring nights are customary for Brock, a junior guard who is averaging 36.7 points per game, which ranks fourth nationally in MaxPreps. Brock had 48 on Friday night in a 90-61 Homecoming win over Cresset for his career best for the Eagles. His personal high total for CFCA was exceeded in less than 72 hours.

Brock scored 58 for the Bleu Diamond Wildcats in a non-scholastic contest at the Rocky Mount Events Center last summer.

Brock made 21 of 34 field goal attempts Monday, including two of six from beyond the arc. He sank seven of 10 free throws. He added four rebounds, two assists and seven steals.

Kyle Dunkins was next in the scoring column for CFCA with five points, including a big three as Falcon threatened to come back.

Brandon Surles had four points and three steals. Justin Chestnut, Elijah Ellis and Lathan Wilborn added two points each.

Trevor McLamb had five rebounds and six steals as the Eagles got their fourth straight win. Ellis had five rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocked shots. Caden Scarborough and Dunkins claimed four rebounds each.

The Warriors (16-4) got 12 points from Jazawn Swift, 11 from Jalyn McMillan, 11 from Zmarius Bairstow, 10 from Demetrius McDaniel, six from Jordan McMillan and five from Luke Weston.

Swift had 13 rebounds and seven blocked shots before fouling out. Bairstow grabbed 10 rebounds. Jordan McMillan finished with four assists.

CFCA (10-12) hosts Liberty Christian (5-6) tonight at 6 p.m. following a Southeastern Conference middle school boys game between the two schools at 4:30 p.m.
