Christian Jayne of host Terry Sanford went 4-for-4 and scored three runs in a 7-1 win over Midway in the first round of the Bulldog Invitational on Saturday.
Jayne also went six innings on the mound, allowing two hits and an unearned run while striking out seven with three walks.
The outcome dropped the 2-A Raiders to 7-2.
Midway was limited to two hits, doubles by sophomore Cameron Barefoot and senior Colby Pope.
The Raiders’ run came in the top of the second to tie the score at 1 as Pope had an RBI that brought in Austin Peterson.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the bottom of the third and were ahead the rest of the way.
Terry Sanford, a 3-A program, improved to 9-2.
Midway meets Jack Britt today at 10 a.m. at Terry Sanford.
