BUIES CREEK — Campbell and Appalachian State opened the 2019 men’s soccer preseason schedule with a 1-1 draw Monday at the Eakes Athletic Complex.

Adrian Morales put the Camels ahead in the 48th minute off Aigbekan Nosegbe’s assist before Alex Hernandez equalized for Appalachian four minutes later.

“We just wanted to get a good run out, get the nerves out, and get everyone the opportunity to play,” said Camels coach Dustin Fonder. “Now’s the time to do that and get ready for the regular season.”

Alex Egeonu scored for Campbell in an additional 30-minute period.

The Camels continue their preseason schedule Saturday in a 7 p.m. start at Elon. CU opens the regular season August 30 at Memphis.
