BUIES CREEK — Bailey Fisher threw for 366 yards and Gardner-Webb defeated Campbell, 42-35, on Saturday in the second N.C. Pork Council Barbecue Bowl at Barker-Lane Stadium.

The Bulldogs (5-5, 4-0) remained unbeaten in the Big South Conference and extended their win streak to three games.

Campbell (4-6, 2-3) could not overcome a three-touchdown deficit early in the third quarter and dropped its fourth straight contest on its Senior Day.

Fisher completed 30 of 38 passes with one interception and three TDs, while adding a rushing score. Narii Gaither rushed 19 times for 100 yards and GWU amassed 583 yards of total offense. T.J. Luther finished with eight receptions and 132 years with two scores for Gardner-Webb, which will host North Carolina A&T next Saturday for the Big South title.

Chad Mascoe completed 19 of 33 passes for 221 yards in relief of injured Campbell quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams. Bryant Barr ran for 94 yards and one score on 11 carries, while Lamagea McDowell added 72 yards on the ground on nine attempts.

Austin Hite led the Camels with six catches for 86 yards, while Jalen Kelsey had five grabs for 58 yards.

GWU led 35-14 at halftime as Fisher threw for three scores and ran for another. He connected with T.J. Luther, Cutrell Haywood and Caleb Borders on scoring passes.

Campbell’s first touchdown came on the first play of the second quarter when Haywood muffed a punt by Corey Petersen and Noah Caston recovered the ball in the end zone to cut the lead to 14-7.

Playing in his final home game, Barr scored on a 9-yard run, set up by a 45-yard completion from Mascoe to Hite in the second quarter.

On the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, Campbell’s Paul Hutson forced a fumble by Gaither and Dorian Jones picked up the ball and returned it 29 yards to cut the GWU lead to 35-21.

The Bulldogs responded with a 75-yard drive capped by Donovan Jones’ 6-yard rush.

McDowell’s 20-yard scoring run cut the gap to 42-28 with 9:02 left in the third, and NaQuari Rogers’ 5-yard scoring run trimmed the margin to 42-35 with 2:11 to play.

Campbell forced a late Gardner-Webb punt, but Mascoe was sacked, and the Camels turned the ball over on downs.

Jonathan Jones led Campbell’s defense with 11 total tackles. C.J. Tillman added eight, including a sack. Jamari Brown topped Gardner-Webb tacklers with seven stops.

Campbell closes its season on Saturday with a 2 p.m. kickoff at Delaware State.
