BOILING SPRINGS — Chris Clemons became the first junior in Big South Conference history to surpass the 2,000-point career plateau as Campbell used a late 11-0 run for a 78-70 league win at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night.

Clemons tallied 33 points as the Camels improved to 13-12 overall and 7-6 in the Big South.

Freshman Jordan Whitfield had 13 points in a reserve role and his brother, Shane Whitfield, contributed 12 points with five assists. Marcus Burk added 11 points for CU.

The Bulldogs (12-14, 7-6) had not lost at home this season.

The dynamic 5-feet, 9-inch guard has 2,006 points going into a home game with Longwood on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
