BUIES CREEK — Campbell closed out its 2021 preseason with an open scrimmage Saturday evening at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Saturday’s scrimmage marked CU’s 18th preseason practice in preparation for the 2021 season, consisting of a controlled first half, followed by a completely live second frame.

CU will open the 2021 season at Liberty on September 4, the team’s fifth consecutive game against a Football Bowl Subdivision program. Campbell will make its home debut on September 11 at 6 p.m. against Elon, 665 days since last hosting a football game at Barker-Lane Stadium (vs. No. 15 Monmouth, November 16, 2019).

Campbell is coming off an abbreviated four-game, all-FBS schedule in the fall of 2020, taking on Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State and Wake Forest. 2021 marks Campbell’s 14th season since bringing football back to Buies Creek in 2008. After competing in the fall, CU did not participate in the Football Championship Subdivision spring season.

Single game tickets for all five of Campbell’s home dates this season are on sale at GoCamels.com/Tickets, as well as in person at the CU Athletics Ticket Office, located at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center, and by phone, at (910) 893-1459. Season tickets also remain on sale.
