Local tennis players took wins in USTA Raleigh Tennis Tournament on Sunday at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center.

D.J. Carter, the No. 1 seed for South Johnson, won the boys 16 division of the USTA L6 event. Jordan Gilchrist of Harnett Central won the girls 16 division.

Sydney Johnson of Triton was second in the girls 16. Harnett Central’s Malaya McFadyen had a third-place finish.

The Harnett County Tennis Academy had six players represent the area in the 14’s and 16’s. All will move up to compete in USTA L5 tournaments moving forward. USPTA elite pro Jay James directs the academy.
