Triton wrestlers competed in the Eastern regional at Cleveland High School on Friday and Saturday in an effort to gain a shot at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A individual state championships next week in Greensboro.
The Hawks were ninth out of 29 teams and three Triton grapplers earned berths in the state event.
Michael Carvin won the regional championship at 285 pounds. Carvin was second in voting for the Wrestler of the Tournament.
Tyre Cameron of the Hawks was second at 220 pounds. Romello Cowan was third at 170 after being seeded fifth.
Nick Williams was fifth at 145 pounds.
