East Wake took a 28-2 nonconference varsity football win at Harnett Central on Friday night in the Trojans’ season opener.
Central was scheduled to match up with West Johnston on August 20 but that contest was called off due to COVID issues. The Trojans were originally scheduled to visit Sanderson on Friday night, but the Spartans were unable to play because of protocols.
East Wake improved to 1-1 after a 46-28 loss at home to Southern Nash.
The Warriors led 18-0 at the half. The Trojans avoided a shutout when an East Wake punt snap went through the end zone in the third quarter.
Central is scheduled to host Apex (1-1) on Friday night at 7 p.m.
