The Harnett Central girls tennis team played in the regionals.

Harnett Central’s girls tennis team concluded its season in the regionals at the Burlington Tennis Center on Friday.

Sophie McLean and Morgan Jones of the Trojans each lost to seeded players in singles.

Malaya McFadyen and Anna Vreeling lost 6-2, 6-2 in a doubles match that Central coach Jay James said, ‘was way closer than the score.”

Brittany Mills and Emme Ann Thompson were seeded No. 2 in doubles but lost 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to a doubles team from Cape Fear of Cumberland County.

“Really proud of all of them,” James said. “I told the girls it is very difficult when you’re playing against the best players from our region. There is no such thing as an easy match.”

The Trojans were 9-4 in the regular season.

Prior to the regionals, Mills signed to play basketball and tennis at Pfeiffer. Vreeling has signed for tennis at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.
