Harnett Central’s varsity baseball team avenged a 6-5 loss at 4-A Cary on March 28 by beating the Imps 7-3 on Wednesday night at Central.

The Trojans improved to 5-7 going into a Tri-County Six 3-A Conference game at Western Harnett on Friday night.

Central topped the Eagles 4-3 on Tuesday night, leaving each team at 3-2 in the league. Cary dropped to 6-8 on the season.

In softball on Wednesday night, 4-A Fuquay-Varina moved to 12-0 on the season with a 7-5 win at Central.

Senior Taylor Smith was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Bengals. Junior Ada Previtte was 3-for-5 with an RBI in the win as Central fell to 8-7 overall.
