Central takes soccer win over Triton, falls to WH in baseball

Harnett Central took a 1-0 Tri-County Six 3-A Conference varsity girls soccer win over visiting Triton on Thursday night as Austin Bowling scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute for the Trojans.

Madeline Langdon was in goal for the shutout.

Western Harnett took a 4-0 league win over the host Trojans in varsity baseball as Collin Welch, a recent signee to Florence-Darlington Technical College, pitched a 2-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Eagles.

Chase Holder was 2-for-2 as Western had six hits.

A 5-4 loss at Lee County on Saturday put the Eagles at 13-8 overall and 5-5 in league play.

Central has a makeup varsity baseball game at home against Triton on Monday at 7 p.m.
