Harnett Central’s varsity boys soccer program continued its vast improvement from last season with a 2-0 All American Conference win over visiting Terry Sanford on Monday.
The Trojans, who were winless in a delayed season during the 2020-21 school year, stayed atop the league standings at 7-0. Central is 8-2 overall going into a conference contest at home against Pine Forest (6-7, 5-3) tonight at 6 p.m.
Terry Sanford, which slipped to 13-5 overall and 7-2 in the AAC, would have moved into a share of first in the league with a win. The Trojans had topped the host Bulldogs, 4-3, in two overtimes in their first meeting on September 15.
Adrian Flores scored for Central in the first half Monday with Juan Martinez assisting.
Flores assisted Ansor Lopez in the second half.
Deshawn Carty was in goal for 79 minutes in the shutout with five saves. Avery Allred played the final minute and had one save after Carty was run into by a visiting player.
