CFCA baseball overcomes deficit to defeat Crossroads

The Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity baseball team overcame a 9-0 deficit to down visiting Crossroads Christian of Henderson, 22-12, on Thursday.

In the top of the first, three errors and four walks preceded three hits as the Colts took a 9-0 lead.

The Eagles (2-1) responded with 10 runs in the bottom of the first with six hit batters and three walks helping the hosts take the lead. Deshawn Woods had an infield hit and CFCA got 2-run singles from Gus Adams and Zeke Brock.

Jake Tyndall came to the mound in relief in the second after Crossroads regained the lead at 11-10.

The Eagles went ahead 12-11 in the bottom of the second as Cole Godwin walked and later scored on a passed ball. Brock had an RBI triple that scored Dylan Johnson.

The Colts got a tying run in the third before Brock snared a line drive at short and doubled off a runner at third to get out of the inning.

Tyndall scored the go-ahead run in the third after his double to left. Godwin had an RBI single and Brock and Tyndall had 2-run singles as the Eagles pulled away.

Tyndall got the visitors in order in the fourth before the game was called with daylight fading.

Tyndall allowed one run on one hit with one hit batter, two walks and three strikeouts.

Brock finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Adams was 2-for-2 and Tyndall went 2-for-3. CFCA drew 13 walks.
