CFCA begins cross country season

Jaden Crumley led CFCA runners on Tuesday in Sanford.

Cape Fear Christian Academy started its 2020 cross country season at Grace Christian of Sanford on Tuesday.

Senior Jaden Crumley led the Eagle boys with a time of 23 minutes, 55 seconds over the 5,000-meter course for 18th place overall.

Trey Tripp of CFCA was 24th in the 42-runner field in 26:13 and Dylan Johnson of the Eagles posted 27:32 for 27th.

The CFCA boys were fifth among six teams. The CFCA girls were fourth among five teams.

Wilson Christian won the boys competition and Lee Christian was first for the girls.

Seventh-grader Allie Wiggins was the leader for the Eagle girls as she placed 10th among 28 runners in 28:03.

Chloe Bowden was 14th in 29:24 and Courtney Butts was 17th in 30:52.

CFCA has its first Sandhills Athletic Conference meet at Freedom Christian on Sept. 22 at 4 p.m.
