Isaiah Tatum scored 24 points and Milos Galogaza added 23 as the Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team defeated visiting Neuse Christian 77-66 in the first round of the NCISAA 1-A Tournament on Tuesday night.

The Eagles, 11-19 with a demanding schedule, advance to play at United Faith (19-10) in Charlotte on Thursday night at 7.

Galogaza made 12 of 17 from the field. He had 11 rebounds for a double-double and had four assists.

Tatum also contributed six rebounds and four assists.

Marcus Owens came off the bench for 11 points against Neuse, which led 37-34 at the half.

Daniel Lobach had seven points, eight rebounds and four assists. The line for Riley Adams included six points, six rebounds and six assists. Dillon Butler had six points.

“Defense, rebounding and making big shots were keys,” said CFCA coach Dwight Miller.
