Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity boys basketball team defeated Trinity Prep of Winter Park, Fla., 61-53, on Friday as the Eagles halted a three-game losing streak against quality opposition.
It was the second game for the local team in the Holiday Basketball Classic at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
“We came back together as a team with a balanced attack,” said CFCA coach J.D. Johnson.
Marcus Owens led the way with 15 points. E.J. Bethea had seven of his 11 points in the fourth quarter. Ramiro Arrillaga had 10 points for the Eagles (13-6).
Trinity Prep fell to 7-4.
Riley Adams had nine points for CFCA. Lucas Capalbo scored eight. Dillon Butler contributed five points and Parker Watson added three.
The Eagles complete play in the event on Saturday against Stone Memorial of Crossville, Tenn.
