CFCA boys move into third round with 70-41 win over John Paul II

The Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team defeated visiting John Paul II, 70-41, on Thursday night in the second round of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association 1-A playoffs.

Six players made a total of 10 shots from beyond the arc as CFCA improved to 19-15 going into a third round game at home on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Trinity Christian (20-9).

Riley Adams led the Eagles with 17 points. Ramiro Arrillaga had 16 points. E.J. Bethea, who has surpassed 1,000 points for his high school career, scored 12 against the Saints (8-15).

Parker Watson had eight points, Dillon Butler netted seven and Lucas Capalbo added six CFCA. Greg Moneymaker had three points and Marcus Owens tallied one.
