CFCA challenges in MCC golf as Selph finishes 2nd

Cape Fear Christian Academy finished second, seven strokes behind Crossroads Christian, which had dominated to a greater extent during the regular season, in the Mid-Carolina 1-A Conference tournament at Olde Liberty Golf Course in Youngsville on Monday.

Scoring for the Eagles were Tripp Selph with an 86, Will Betts (92) and Cade Godwin (97) for CFCA’s 275 total.

Lee Christian was third at 329.

Selph was presented the Most Outstanding Player honor as runner-up to the medalist.

Earning all-conference honors for the season were Selph and Michael Shook.

All-tournament recognition went to Betts, Godwin and Wyatt Medlin.

“The year-to-year improvement was amazing,” said Eagles golf coach Mike Shook. “Our returning players improved from six to 20 shots on their per round averages.”
