Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity girls basketball team lost 51-26 at Lee Christian in Sanford in the second round of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association 1-A playoffs on Thursday night.

The Lady Eagles were without all-Sandhills Athletic Conference post player Zykia Matthews, who has been sick.

“We were in the game at halftime and could have been leading but we missed a lot of layups.” said CFCA coach Bobby Lamb. “We couldn’t match up with their bigs without Z.”

Senior Kristen Bass led the Lady Eagles with 15 points. Talisha McNeill scored six. Ella John Dupree had three points and senior Meghan Taylor tallied two.

The CFCA girls finished 9-19. The school did not have a varsity girls team in 2017-18 and went 8-13 last season with a pair of forfeit wins.
