Village gets Sandhills sweep

Village Christian Academy swept Sandhills Athletic Conference basketball games at Cape Fear Christian Academy on Friday night.

In the varsity boys game, the Knights prevailed 100-76 as former Overhills guard Zavian McLean led Village with 28 points.

Lucas Capalbo had 23 points for the Eagles, who are 15-7 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Riley Adams and E.J. Bethea had 13 points each for CFCA. Dillon Butler scored 10 points. Ramiro Arrillaga had eight points. Parker Watson got his five points in the second half. Greg Moneymaker and Marcus Owens had two points each for the Eagles.

Girls Game

Village won the varsity girls game, 74-36, as the Lady Eagles slipped to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Kristen Bass and Meredith Taylor had seven points each for CFCA.

Aubree Bass had six points for the Lady Eagles, Anslee McLamb scored five, Talisha McNeill had four points and Leah Brannon added three. Claire Parker and Meghan Taylor tallied two points each.

JV Boys

Village dealt Cape Fear Christian Academy its first junior varsity boys basketball loss of the season, 66-55.

The junior Eagles were led by Deshaun Woods with 24 points. Zeke Brock scored 16 for CFCA and Owen Gregory added 11. Dolan Adams and Reid Miller had two points each.

The CFCA JV boys slipped to 9-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Quay McMillian had 20 points for Village.
