Cape Fear Christian Academy’s junior varsity boys basketball team edged host Greenfield School of Wilson, 81-80, on Monday to move to 6-0 for the season.
DeShawn Woods had 27 points, Owen Gregory scored 21 and Zeke Brock added 20 to lead the junior Eagles. Dolan Adams had nine points, Jaden Crumley scored three and Reid Miller tallied one point.
“I credit this win by how we came out strong in the first quarter, which was difficult for them to come back,” said CFCA JV coach Dwain Ellis. “We never trailed.”
Greenfield swept the nonconference varsity matchups, 54-43 in the girls game and 69-54 in the boys contest.
Taisha McNeil led CFCA’s girls with 11 points and Meredith Taylor tallied 10. Jada Horne had six points as the CFCA girls slipped to 3-4. Kristen Bass and Anslee McLamb had five points each. Adding two points apiece were Leah Brannon, Claire Parker and Aubree Bass.
Lebo leads Greenfield varsity boys
The Greenfield varsity boys were paced by 27 points and 11 rebounds from Creighton Lebo, son of former East Carolina coach Jeff Lebo, as the Knights pulled away to a 69-54 victory.

E.J. Bethea led CFCA (8-3) with 20 points. Riley Adams had 11 points. Lucas Capalbo had seven points. Marcus Owens scored six. Ramiro Arrillaga and Michael Okoye had four points each. Parker Watson tallied two.
The CFCA varsities host Thales Academy of Apex for Homecoming on Friday. The girls game starts at 5 p.m.
