Cape Fear Christian Academy’s middle school baseball team moved to 6-0 with a 12-2 win in five innings over visiting Grace Christian of Sanford on Thursday.
Grace fell to 9-2-1.
A 5-run second inning gave the Eagles a 7-2 lead.
The hosts took a 9-2 advantage into the bottom of the fifth when winning pitcher Fisher Stancil drew a walk and Cason Pope singled. Conner Parrish had a 2-run triple beyond the center fielder and Alan Hinson had an RBI double to end the game on the mercy rule.
Hinson and Parrish each had four RBIs. Parrish had a sacrifice fly and two walks. Hinson was 2-for-4. Pope was 2-for-2 with two walks. Stancil was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks. Eli Burns was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Parker McLamb was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Tyson Stephens was 1-for-2 with a leadoff bunt single in the second.
Stancil pitched three and one-third innings in relief with no hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Hinson pitched the last frame with no hits, one walk and two whiffs.
“I thought the boys did a great job today, especially since our last game was April 6,” said CFCA coach Bill Parrish.
The Eagles visit Village Christian on Tuesday.
