CFCA middle school boys win MCC cross country

Cape Fear Christian Academy has won the regular season boys championship in Mid-Carolina Conference cross country.

The team includes Cooper Andrews, Lenin Castillo and Sawyer Tyndall.

The Eagles have also been represented well in middle school girls cross country by Yasmeen Castillo and Kaitlyn Ammons. Castillio won recent meets hosted by Bradford Academy and Lee Christian.

The CFCA boys had a winning total of 12 points in the meet at Bradford Academy on September 28 as Tyndall was third over the 3-kilometer course in 13 ninutes, 22 seconds, Castillo was fourth in 13:27 and Andrews was fifth in 13:39.

At Lee on October 2, Tyndall was second in 11:17, Castillo was third in 11:36 and Andrews was fourth in 11:54.

Castillo set a course record at Lee with a time of 10:50. Ammons was second in 11:33.

Castillo’s winning time at Bradford was 13:32. Ammons was fourth in 14:26.

The Eagles are scheduled to compete in the Pumpkin Run hosted by Wilson Christian on Thursday.
