CFCA MS baseball nipped on eighth-grade day

A comeback before the 90-minute time limit took effect came up just short in an 8-7 loss for the Cape Fear Christian Academy middle school baseball team in a Mid-Carolina Conference contest with visiting Lee Christian on Tuesday.

CFCA outhit the Falcons, 3-2, as Parker McLamb, Tyson Stephens and Trystan Marlow had hits for the Eagles.

McLamb, Stephens and Marlow had multiple steals as CFCA totaled 10 stolen bases. Stephens had three RBIs.

Eighth-grade players were recognized following the game with their parents. The group included Cooper Davis, Reed Davis, Gunner Dorman, James Hood, Marlow, McLamb, Stephens and Landon Wangelin.

The Eagles visit Southside for a nonconference game Friday at 3:30 p.m. at East Clayton Community Park.
