Conner Parrish had a 2-run double for CFCA’s first runs of the season.

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity baseball team opened the season with a 17-0 win in five innings at Community Christian of Wilson on Friday.

The Eagles were originally scheduled to play at Halifax, but the Vikings canceled the game, and the Cyclones agreed to play on short notice.

CFCA coach Bill Parish got his first look at the 2025 Eagles under game conditions after a preseason practice period limited by unsuitable conditions.

Taylor Smith and Tyson Stephens combined for a 2-hit shutout. Smith started and went three innings with one hit, one walk and three strikeouts. Stephens pitched the last two innings, allowing one hit with one walk and three whiffs.

An 2-run double by Conner Parrish in the top of the first put the Eagles ahead to stay as Stephens and Fisher Stancil scored.

Parrish drew two walks and scored four runs. Cooper Davis had a pair of doubles and scored four times.
Parker McLamb had a hit, a walk and four RBIs.

Stancil had a 3-run double and two walks.

Designated hitter Mason Gregory had a hit and an RBI. Smith and Stephens each had hits. Eli Burns had two walks and an RBI.

Parrish drew three of CFCA’s 10 walks. Stancil had two stolen bases

Defensively, CFCA turned one double play and Coach Bill Parrish credited the play of Reid Davis at catcher.

The Eagles host Kerr-Vance on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Fisher Stancil scores at Community Christian in a 17-0 win.
