CFCA opens with road wins

Cape Fear Christian Academy took a pair of varsity basketball wins at Berean Baptist to open the season Monday night.

The CFCA boys pulled away to an 83-44 win as Cinque Lemon had 21 points. Jabare Perry had 14 points and Amari Pearson scored 10.

The CFCA girls were led by Gracie Byrd with 22 points and six rebounds in a 47-26 victory. Leah Brannon had 17 points and Ella John Dupree had four assists.

“I like our 3-guard lineup,” said Lady Eagles coach Bobby Lamb.

Berean took a 65-64 win in the junior varsity boys game on a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Darris Simmons had 19 points in the setback and Zeke Brock scored 15.
