The Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity softball team advanced to the NCISAA 1-A tournament semifinals on Thursday with a 6-0 win over visiting Northeast Academy as Claire Parker pitched a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
The Eagles (16-4), the top seed in the tournament, host fourth-seeded Lawrence Academy (15-8) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
CFCA took a 10-5 win at Lawrence on April 1.
The hosts scored four times in the first inning on Thursday and added runs in the second and sixth.
Mount Olive signee Mariah Bell had two doubles and two RBIs for the Eagles. Kim Bordeaux had two hits with a triple and an RBI. Rhyleigh Horne had two hits with a double and an RBI.
Leadoff batter Cailee Ray had two hits and scored twice. Averi Williams and Parker also had hits.
CFCA was without third baseman Kristina Kennedy, who was sick. Megan Harrold moved from second to third and Trinity Olive played second.
CFCA is the site for the best of three final series. The Lawrence-CFCA winner will meet the semifinal winner between defending champion Halifax, the No. 3 seed, and Pungo, the No. 2 seed, which will host the semifinal.
