Cape Fear Christian Academy took a 6-3 softball win at Halifax Academy on Friday in the first game of a best-of-three series for the NCISAA 1-A championship.
Game two is at noon Saturday at Halifax. If a third game is necessary, it is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Claire Parker pitched a complete game for CFCA (11-2-1), which got out of a bases-loaded jam with none out in the bottom of the seventh with just one run. Parker fielded and threw to first for the final out. She struck out six.
Rhyleigh Horne and Mariah Bell each had three hits. Kristina Kennedy had two hits. Kim Bordeaux drove in a pair of runs. Kennedy and Bell also had RBIs. Averi Williams drew a pair of walks.
