There was insufficient daylight to complete a softball doubleheader at Cape Fear Christian Academy on Monday.

After the Eagles had rallied for a 6-5 win over Freedom Christian in the middle school game, the Patriots had a 3-2 lead in the varsity contest when darkness began to descend. Play was halted in the fifth inning.

The coaches decided to complete the nonconference matchup at Freedom when the teams are scheduled to meet again on April 18.

CFCA hosts Rocky Mount Academy in varsity softball on Tuesday (March 21) at 4 p.m.
