Fans looking for close contests in Mid-Carolina Conference basketball as Cape Fear Christian Academy hosted Cresset on Friday night were out of luck
The CFCA varsity boys moved to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in league play with a 76-47 win and that was the closest game of the night.
Tall and talented Cresset kept the foot on the gas in a 75-13 win in the varsity girls matchup.
The CFCA middle school boys won, 72-3, and Cresset used its size effectively for a 53-6 win in the middle school girls game
Varsity Boys
Justin Chestnut had 18 points and 12 rebounds as CFCA pulled away from leads of 14-12 after the first quarter and 27-22 at the half with a dominant third quarter. Chestnut made seven on 10 field goal attempts.
Caden Scarborough had 18 points and five assists. Kayden Dunkins added 15 points and four assists.
Rounding out the scoring for the hosts were Lathan Wilborn with nine points, Elijah Elliss (8), Conner Parrish (7), Micah Andemichael (3) and Connor Shirley (3).
Wilborn grabbed nine rebounds. Dunkins and Ellis each had four assists.
The CFCA varsity boys visit O’Neal today. That tipoff has been moved up to 1 p.m.
Varsity Girls
Glenna McLamb had five points against the defending NCHSAA 1-A state champions.
Mary Andemichael had four points. Savannah Autry had two points. Adding one point each were Grace Bryha and Aabby Taylor.
Middle School Boys
CFCA improved to 7-1 as Eli Shwaikeh had 22 points, all in the first half.
Henry Smith had nine points and River Stancil scored eight.
Putting in six points each were Braxton Register and Luke Meyer.
Jayce Barker and Sam Hudson tallied four points each.
Sawyer Tyndall had three points.
Adding two points apiece were John Andemichael, Reid Jones, Garrett Chapman, Ben Thompson and Carter Glass.
Middle School Girls
Carolina Wynns had three points for CFCA. Kamryn Knight scored two and Ellie Shwaikeh had one point.
Upcoming
CFCA hosts Bradford for MCC varsity games on Monday. The girls play at 4 p.m. and the boys tip off at 5:30 p.m.
The CFCA middle school teams visit Christ the Cornerstone in Laurinburg for nonconference games Friday.
