CFCA starts cross country season

Cape Fear Christian Academy started its cross country season on Monday with a Sandhills Athletic Conference meet at the Jordan Soccer Complex and adjacent Cape Fear Trail.

Sophomore Jaden Crumley was ninth among 25 runners for the boys with a time of 24 minutes, 28 seconds over the five-kilometer course. Freshman Trey Tripp of the Eagles was 12th in 25:13.

For the CFCA girls, Gabbi Chiodo was 11th among 20 runners in 35:41. Ruby George of the Eagles was 12th in 35:42.

Thomas Macagg of Fayetteville Christian School was the overall winner in 20:06.

CFCA returns to the course for another SAC meet on Monday.

The Eagles have reinstated cross country after an absence of several years. CFCA coach Karina Maya is hopeful of adding more runners.
