CFCA starts girls tennis with an 8-1 road win over Wayne Country Day

Cape Fear Christian Academy started its 2021 girls tennis season with an 8-1 nonconference win over Wayne Country Day at the Wayne Community College courts in Goldsboro on Wednesday.

The only loss for the Eagles came as Nina Sauer got overheated and forfeited in her singles match. She was able to play doubles.

Singles winners included Ella John Dupree at No. 1, Aubrey Jackson at No. 3, Karson Hamilton at No. 4, Anna Jackson at No. 5 and Savannah Autry at No. 6.

Doubles winners were Ella John Dupree and Sauer at No. 1, Aubrey Jackson and Anna Jackson at No. 2 and Hamilton and Lily Kate Dupree at No. 3.

CFCA visits Fayetteville Academy today at 4 p.m.

The Eagles are coming off a 5-3 season in 2020, which included a pair of 7-2 losses to today’s 2-A opponent. Ella John Dupree made the NCISAA 1-A all-state team from CFCA as a freshman last year.
