Cape Fear Christian Academy hosted Cresset Christian of Durham in its first varsity volleyball match in its new league, the Mid-Carolina 1-A Conference, and defeated the visitors, 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-16), on Friday night.
Bailey Dorman had 11 kills in the win
“It was great to see the players run a faster, high-end offense,” said CFCA coach Paul Hobbs. “Each player was given stats to strive for before the game and almost all made their goals.”
Madeline Brocious, who missed a 3-0 loss to a much-improved Northwood Temple team at CFCA on Thursday due to an ear infection, and Abby Hobbs each finished with six kills. Meredith Taylor had four.
Hobbs had four aces. Rhyleigh Horne and Aslan Parrish each served three aces.
Horne had 17 digs, Dorman had 15 and Parrish had 11. Hobbs and Laney Avery totaled five digs apiece.
Taylor contributed three blocks and Perri Caroline Ennis made two.
The CFCA varsity hosts Ascend Leadership Academy of Sanford on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Thursday home games against Southside Christian of Clayton have been added to the CFCA schedule. The Eagles’ Royal middle school team plays at 4 p.m., followed by junior varsity and varsity.
The CFCA Royal middle school team played its first match on Friday and defeated Cresset, 2-0.
The CFCA Gold middle school team (2-0) visits St. Patrick’s in Fayetteville on Thursday.
