CFCA takes two middle school wins

Cape Fear Christian Academy took a pair of Southeastern Conference middle school basketball wins over visiting St. John Paul II of Southern Pines on Monday.

The CFCA girls improved to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in league play with a 40-13 win as Ella John Dupree scored 16 points and Perri Caroline Ennis tallied 10.

Aubree Bass had eight points, Laney Trainer netted four points and Madeline Brocious added two in the victory.

The hosts held on for a 29-28 win in the boys game as Tony Cornette got a loose ball on the defensive end in the closing seconds. Cornette finished with eight points. Landon Alphin scored six. Wyatt Medlin and Eli Burns had four points each.

Conner Parrish had three points. Patrick Raynor and Elijah Ellis scored two points each.

The CFCA teams visit Northwood Temple on Thursday.
