CFCA teams take road wins over Raleigh Homeschool

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s junior varsity and varsity boys basketball teams took wins over Raleigh Homeschool at Wake Cross Roads Baptist on Tuesday night.

The Eagle varsity evened the season series after a 56-55 home loss to the Hawks on Nov. 9 as E.J. Bethea had 26 points, four rebounds and three steals in a 69-49 win.

Marcus Owens had 13 points as CFCA improved to 12-3 going into a game with Hillside tonight (Thursday, Dec. 20) at 6 p.m. in the Holiday in the Pines Tournament at Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines.

Lucas Capalbo added 10 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Riley Adams had 10 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals. Ramiro Arrillaga tallied six points. Richard Edwards and Parker Watson contributed two points each.

The Eagles pulled away after leading 27-24 at the half.

“Half-court defense led to stops and turnovers led to production in transition,” said CFCA coach J.D. Johnson.

CFCA JV remains unbeaten

The CFCA junior varsity boys won, 54-42, moving to 9-0 in the process.

Deshaun Woods led the junior Eagles with 24 points. Zeke Brock scored 19. Reid Miller added five points, Owen Gregory scored four and Dolan Adams had two points.

“We took them seriously, because it was a one-point game last time,” said CFCA JV boys coach Dwain Ellis.
