CFCA varsity boys pull away to 70-48 win at Lee

After a defensive first quarter produced a tie at 6, the Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team pulled away in the later stages for a 70-48 Mid-Carolina Conference win at Lee Christian on Tuesday night.

The Eagles improved to 15-8 overall and 6-2 in the MCC.

Kayden Dunkins had 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for CFCA. Caden Scarborough totaled 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Cade Godwin scored 13 points with five rebounds and three assists. Justin Chestnut had six points, eight rebounds and blocked four shots. Lathan Wilborn contributed six points, four rebounds and blocked four shots.

Eli Burns had five points. Conner Parrish had four points, two rebounds and a steal.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Eagles were without leading scorer Glenna McLamb, due to the flu, in a 63-20 loss at Lee.

Lily Kate Dupree scored six points. Savannah Autry returned from a fractured left arm with five points.

Ella Wilborn had five points. Mary Andemichael had two points. Courtney Butts and Hailey Wangelin added one point each.

Junior Varsity Boys

The Eagles remained unbeaten in the MCC with a 55-25 win as Lathan Wilborn had 12 points and five rebounds, all in the first half.

Eli Shwaikeh scored 10 points. Donald O’Meara had seven points. Fisher Stancil netted six points.

Cade Godwin had four points and seven rebounds. Eli Burns and Parker McLamb scored four points each. Tyson Stephens and Taylor Smith tallied three points apiece. Trever Jeffries had two points.
