The Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team took a 70-67 Sandhills Athletic Conference overtime win at Fayetteville Christian on Tuesday night.

The Eagles improved to 12-6 overall and 2-1 in league play as point guard Jamael Carter had 24 points and 11 assists.

Greg Moneymaker made six of 12 from beyond the arc as he added 19 points for CFCA.

Paul Tako, who is averaging 10.7 points and 6.4 rebounds, did not play due to a wrist injury. Jeremyah McWilliams (10.6, 6.7) missed the second half with sore knees.

“Multiple guys stepped up,” said Eagles coach Kalen Eddings. “It was sloppy down the stretch … but we pulled it out. Wins in this league are tough and road wins are even tougher.”

Sila Tako, Paul’s twin, had 10 points and five rebounds. Austin Locklear had seven points and a season-high eight rebounds. Milos Prodanovic contributed six points and five rebounds.

“Austin had a super big ‘and one’ in overtime to push it up,” Eddings said.

Fayetteville Christian won the girls game, 57-15.

CFCA took the junior varsity boys game, 68-56, as Deshawn Woods scored 27 points and Zeke Brock tallied 15. Rounding out the scoring were David Okropiridze (11 points), Reid Miller (9) and Barrett Raynor (6).

The Eagles continue league play at Freedom Christian on Friday night.
