Host Clayton rolled out to a 42-0 lead at the half and subdued Harnett Central 56-0 in a nonconference varsity football game on Friday night.

Hayden Smith received WRAL’s Extra Effort Award this week but the Central quarterback was unable to avoid a shutout as the Comets moved to 3-1.

The last three teams the Trojans have faced have a combined record of 10-1.

The schedule would appear to ease for Central this week in a contest at Smithfield-Selma. Both teams are 0-4.
