Clayton tops Central, 30-12

Visiting Clayton took a 30-12 nonconference varsity football win at Harnett Central on Friday night.

The Comets (2-0) followed a blocked punt with a field goal midway through the first quarter and never trailed.

The Trojans (0-2) were within 10-6 on a keeper for a touchdown by quarterback DeAndre McAllister.

An ankle injury subsequently sidelined McAllister.

Devin Perry ran for a score in the fourth quarter for Central, which opens Tri-County Six 3-A Conference play at Union Pines on Friday.
