Coats-Erwin topped host Dunn 11-2 in middle school baseball on Monday to complete a sweep for the Falcons.
Hayden Pope pitched all seven innings for the Falcons (1-0) to take the win, giving up one earned run on one hit with six walks and seven strikeouts.
Jalen Evans had two hits, one RBI and two runs scored to lead Coats-Erwin offensively.
Jacob Hartman had one hit, two RBIs and two runs scored. Jamari Thompson had a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
Wyatt Avery had one hit, two RBIs and a run scored. Hunter Thompson had one hit, one RBI and two runs scored.
Dillon Faircloth had a double and one RBI. Shane Jackson had a double and a run scored. Riley Colville had one hit and one run scored. Pope scored once.
Ross Stevens had the lone hit for the Greenwaves and one RBI. Malik Beaumont and Anthony Jones scored one run apiece.
Dunn took the early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning. But Coats-Erwin scored two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game and nine in the fifth inning to take the lead for good.
Weather permitting, Coats-Erwin hosts Shughart for a make-up game Tuesday. Dunn is at Highland on Thursday.
Falcons take girls soccer
Coats-Erwin won 6-1 in girls soccer.
Gracie Byrd and Abby Hood had two goals apiece. Anna Wilson and Camryn Conway had one goal apiece for the Falcons (1-1).
Alex Oliveras had one goal for Dunn, the Greenwaves’ first of the season, and Emma Stanley provided an assist.
Softball goes five innings
Coats-Erwin won 22-4 in softball in five innings.
Ava Blackman was the winning pitcher.
Tristan Ennis had four hits and four runs scored and Kimah Warren had four hits, including two doubles, and three runs scored to lead the Falcons (1-0) at the plate.
Marley Colville had three hits, including a double, and three runs scored. Blackman and Caylon Avery each had three hits and two runs scored. Gracie Byrd had two hits, including a home run, and four runs scored. Jaliyah McDougald had two hits, including a double, and a run scored. Carleigh Hemby had one hit and one run scored. Zeah Ennis scored once.
Harmony Horne had two hits and one run scored to lead the Greenwaves.
Lindsey Knoll had one hit and one run scored. Stephanie Davis and Emma Neal scored one run apiece.
