Crossroads Christian took a 68-54 Mid-Carolina Conference varsity boys basketball win at Cape Fear Christian Academy on Friday night as the Eagles had a poor shooting performance.

CFCA made just three of 25 (12 percent) from beyond the arc in falling to 13-7 overall and 5-1 in the MCC.

The Eagles topped the Colts, 61-59, in overtime in Henderson on December 3, going five for 12 from long range and 25 for 51 overall (49 percent). CFCA was 23 for 62 in the second meeting (37 percent).

Kayden Dunkins paced the hosts offensively with 20 points. Caden Scarborough had 11 points, five assists and five rebounds. Lathan Wilborn finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Conner Parrish had two points, seven rebounds and four assists. Justin Chestnut had five points, five rebounds and blocked three shots.

“Foul trouble from our best defender (Elijah Ellis) and shots not falling consistently led us to our downfall,” said Eagles coach Dwain Ellis.

The Eagles made a second half run to cut a double figure deficit to three points before a technical foul shifted momentum to the Colts (13-6, 5-1 MCC), who were led by 32 points from sophomore Kobe Edgerton.
