BUIES CREEK — Three separate Camels scored and Alexa Genas nailed the game winner as Campbell topped Gardner-Webb 3-2 Wednesday night at Eakes Athletics Complex.

Tied 2-2 in the 71st minute, Alexa Genas buried her fifth goal of the season and her third game winner after she drew a penalty kick on the foul from Emily Jonas.

Campbell keeper Natalya Marcove picked up the win in her first start since 2016 when she started all 20 matches. Over the full 90 minutes the senior tallied five saves.

Elyssa Nowowieski opened the scoring line in the 31st minute by taking the feed from Rosie O’Neal and firing the shot at goal which slipped through the keeper’s hands.

Zona Kinnaman followed 11 minutes later by placing the header off the Amber Liston corner into the back of the net.

Gardner-Webb (3-8-1, 2-1) answered with two goals before Genas hit the game winner.

Stina Kleppe netted her seventh goal of the year on a penalty kick after Hanna Maansson drew a hand ball.

In the 60th minute, Kylie Ameres gathered a loose ball in the box and finished past the diving keeper.

Campbell returns to action Saturday with a trip to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on USC Upstate at 7 p.m.
