BUIES CREEK — Alexa Genas scored a pair of goals and Rosie O’Neal added another as Campbell extended its win streak to three games in women’s soccer Wednesday night at Eakes Athletics Complex.
The Camels shut out Charleston Southern, 3-0.
Genas’ pair of scores moved her into sole possession of ninth place on the Big South Conference career goals list with 40. She now sits just six goals shy of tying Ashley Clark who ranks second all-time in school history.
Genas drew a foul by getting tripped up in the box in the 29th minute. She then buried the penalty kick for her seventh goal of the season and the game-winner. She later bookended the Campbell scoring slate in the 66th minute when Emma Bushee played her forward into the box where she finished to the top left corner with a sliding strike.
Natalya Marcove posted her second shutout in as many games by going the full 90 minutes where she tallied four saves.
Sandwiched between Genas’ pair, Rosie O’Neal took a duo feed from Genas and Jessica Donald to finished the back post score in the 61st minute.
Donald, who entered the game with the second most assist in the country, dished out her ninth assist of the season.
Campbell (8-3-2, 4-1-1 Big South) tied a season-high in shots with 23 compared to the Buccaneers’ (3-8-2, 0-4-2 Big South) nine with 10 on frame.
The blank sheet marked the seventh of the season for the Campbell backline who allowed just four shots on goal all night to help Campbell win its fourth straight against CSU.
Campbell takes the weekend off before returning to action Wednesday, October 16, at 7 p.m. at Longwood.
