CU women’s soccer wins on Senior Night

BUIES CREEK — Katie Lockwood tallied six points and Campbell topped Hampton 5-1 to close out the regular season at Eakes Athletics Complex.

Lockwood dished out three assists and scored one of her own. She scored her own goal in the 50th minute when she fired from 30 yards out and bounced it off the post and in for her ninth goal of the season.

Rosie O’Neal opened the scoring line in the 11th minute for her first goal of the night. Hanna Maansson played the ball up to Katie Lockwood from midfield who then crossed the ball into O’Neal who finished for the score.

In the 29th minute, Parker Ormsby followed when she headed the corner kick from Elyssa Nowowieski into the top of the net for her fourth goal of the season.

Alexa Genas moved into a tie for fifth place on the Big South’s all-time goals list in the 57th minute when Elyssa Nowowieski played the ball into Lockwood who then sent it on to Genas for her 12th goal of the season and the 44th of her career.

Rosie O’Neal netted her second goal of the night Lockwood played the ball into O’Neal who hit the left foot volley for her sixth goal of the season.

Hampton (1-15-1, 0-9-1 Big South) netted their lone goal on the night in the 66th minute to narrow the gap on a score from Savyon Hammond.

Natalya Marcove picked up the win as a part of senior night by allowing just one goal across 73 minutes.

Campbell set a single game season high in shots (29), shots on goal (15) and corner kicks (12).

Campbell will open play in the Big South Conference tournament Saturday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. Campbell will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
