Dad Hardee’s team edges Eagles

Host Alexander Central topped Western Harnett 2-1 in baseball Saturday.

It was the 400th career win for Pete Hardee, the Cougars coach and the father of Western coach Dalton Hardee.

Collin Welch was 2-for-3 and drove in the Eagles’ run in the fourth.

The Cougars (4-1) scored twice in the bottom of the fourth.

Trevor Dezso was also 2-for-3 for Western (3-4). Brandley Wilson was 1-for-3 as the Eagles held a 5-3 lead in hits.

Wilson pitched a complete game with one walk and nine strikeouts.
