Halifax Academy overcame a 3-1 deficit after six innings for a 4-3 nonconference varsity softball win at Cape Fear Christian Academy on Monday.

The Eagles were hindered by some defensive miscues in the final frame.

CFCA recognized UNC Greensboro signee Delaney Cumbie before the game on Senior Day.

Cumbie had a triple and scored twice. Paige Jeffries had a double and Jada Horne had a single for the Eagles.

Kristen Bass had a sacrifice fly that brought in Cumbie in the first inning.

Ryleigh Horne pitched a complete game for CFCA. Averie Williams, Natalia Brocious and Jeffries contributed to the defensive effort.
